Microneedling

Microneedling with Rejuvapen NXT

Vitality Integrative Skin Clinic is proud to introduce Rejuvapen NXT. This is the latest model of the medical microneedling device produced by Rejuvapen. This new state of the art device is FDA approved for the treatment of wrinkles and acne scars and to be used only by medically trained professionals.

Microneedling is a procedure that is often referred to as “collagen induction therapy” and involves passing over the skin with a needling device, creating thousands of micropunctures from the skin to the mid-dermis. Injury to the dermis causes a cascade of events starting with platelet aggregation. The subsequent migration of inflammatory mediators, neutrophils, monocytes, and fibroblasts into the area helps to produce collagen, modulate the extracellular matrix, and support prolonged tissue modulation. The needling device can be used in combination with the topical application of other collagen enhancers such as peptides, hyaluronic acid, or PRP (platelet rich plasma).

The PRP Facial takes microneedling to a whole new level. A sample of blood is drawn from the arm. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge where the platelets and plasma are separated from the red blood cells. The PRP can then be applied to the skin during and after the treatment allowing the naturally found growth factors in the PRP to penetrate the skin through the micro-channels created during the microneedling procedure. The end results of collagen induction and repair are amplified using a very popular technique.

Microneedling is most commonly used for fine lines, wrinkles, texture, and post-acne scarring. It can also be used to improve the look of sun damage, stretch marks, surgical scars, and the overall appearance of aging. For optimum results, a series of 3-6 treatments every 4-6 weeks is needed with maintenance treatments a few times a year thereafter.

The versatility of the Rejuvapen NXT needle depth allows this treatment to be preformed on many different body parts. The most commonly treated areas are the face, neck, chest and hands. However forearms, legs, abdomen and the back can also be treated.

This simple office procedure is relatively painless with topical numbing cream applied prior to the treatment. The procedure lasts 20 or more minutes depending on the area treated. It is generally well-tolerated and involves minimal downtime as patients may resume daily work and activities immediately. Patients can expect a rosy-pink glow immediately after the treatment and a wind burn look that can last 1-3 days.

Microneedling is safe for all skin tones. People that are not candidates for this procedure are pregnant or nursing mothers, those with a history of keloid scars, and
anyone with active acne, cold sores, eczema or psoriasis.

All procedures are preformed by a licensed board certified nurse practitioner who has received advanced training from both plastic surgeons and cosmetic dermatologists for medical microneedling with and without PRP.
